Over 40 years ago a physician, Howard S. Barrows, M.D., began exploring
the use of Standardized Patients when he was an academic neurologist
at the New York Neurological Institute, Columbia – Presbyterian
Medical Center.
Dr. Barrows’ groundbreaking work from years ago now flourishes
throughout the world, assisting the medical students of today in becoming
better doctors.
Brainstorm Warehouse, LLC and d.c.m. productions, llc have taken
the lead in the production of this new documentary film which promises
to be educational, entertaining, emotional and groundbreaking while
presenting this valuable work to all audiences.
The Independent
Feature Project (IFP) is the fiscal sponsor for this film. IFP
is a 29-year old, not-for-profit membership and advocacy organization
that supports and serves the independent film community by connecting
creative talent and the film industry. Wide-reaching programs provide
invaluable information, resources, networking and support to filmmakers
while promoting film as a vital and influential public art form.
The Independent Feature Project was founded in 1979 on a belief that
a truly vital American cinema must include the personal, idiosyncratic,
and sometimes controversial voices of filmmakers working outside of
the established studio system. As a not-for-profit organization, its
mission is to foster a more sustainable infrastructure that supports
independent filmmaking and ensures that the public has the opportunity
to see films that more accurately reflect the full diversity of the
American culture.
Production on the documentary is now underway. The final product
will be a 90 – minute feature documentary targeted at the general
public as well as all medical personnel. The film will be narrated
by a recognizable Hollywood name.
Key production personnel include Executive Producer and national
award winning Writer/Producer/Director, Michael David Jensen of Brainstorm
Warehouse, LLC, Producer, Robert H. Lampereur of D.C.M. Productions,
LLC in association with Emmy award winning producer/director, Donnie
L. Betts of No Credits Productions and cinematographer David Taylor
of T.M.I. films
Filmmakers will travel the globe visiting specific medical schools
and interviewing select Standardized Patients, Standardized Patient
Educators as well as Dr. Howard S. Barrows exploring
the history, diversity, usage, and advancements made and projected
within the world of medicine revolving around Standardized Patient
usage.
Film Festivals
Upon completion of the project the film will tour medical schools
throughout the world and will be entered in numerous film festivals
and markets including but not limited to the following:

Distribution
In addition, the producers will be seeking worldwide distribution
and will premier the film in no less than 12 major cities throughout
