Over 40 years ago a physician, Howard S. Barrows, M.D., began exploring the use of Standardized Patients when he was an academic neurologist at the New York Neurological Institute, Columbia – Presbyterian Medical Center.

Dr. Barrows’ groundbreaking work from years ago now flourishes throughout the world, assisting the medical students of today in becoming better doctors.

Brainstorm Warehouse, LLC and d.c.m. productions, llc have taken the lead in the production of this new documentary film which promises to be educational, entertaining, emotional and groundbreaking while presenting this valuable work to all audiences.

The Independent Feature Project (IFP) is the fiscal sponsor for this film. IFP is a 29-year old, not-for-profit membership and advocacy organization that supports and serves the independent film community by connecting creative talent and the film industry. Wide-reaching programs provide invaluable information, resources, networking and support to filmmakers while promoting film as a vital and influential public art form.

The Independent Feature Project was founded in 1979 on a belief that a truly vital American cinema must include the personal, idiosyncratic, and sometimes controversial voices of filmmakers working outside of the established studio system. As a not-for-profit organization, its mission is to foster a more sustainable infrastructure that supports independent filmmaking and ensures that the public has the opportunity to see films that more accurately reflect the full diversity of the American culture.

Production on the documentary is now underway. The final product will be a 90 – minute feature documentary targeted at the general public as well as all medical personnel. The film will be narrated by a recognizable Hollywood name.
